Vice. MTV. HBO.

13. Addictive Tracks

Most stock music sites offer music that sounds like humans had no input at all.

Fantastic selections of audio music stock

That’s not the case with Addictive Tracks. From the second you open their website, you immediately see videos highlighting the real voices, real instruments, and real composers behind the work on this site.

They usually have a promotion running, if you’re looking to save some money on a first time stock music purchase.

14. The Music Case

The Music Case offers affordable, royalty-free stock music. Their site is very straightforward and offers a wide array of moods to browse.

The site is a little buggy as of this writing, but the tracks are quality.

15. Moby Gratis

If you have a project in the non-commercial or non-profit sector, that means you have access to music by Grammy nominee Moby!

Naturally, he offers some of the highest quality music you can find on a free music library. And he also give you very specific filtering tools to get exactly the track that’s right for your video.

If your film qualifies, you’ll just need to register, browse the library, and fill out an application.

BEST STOCK MUSIC SITES

16. Alibi

Alibi gives you lots of music, with over 350,000 professionally mastered tracks. With some websites that boast as many songs, you may feel like you’re drowning in options. But Alibi makes your search easier. You can search by genre, mood, and even BPM to get the perfect stock music for your video.

Alibi’s songs are also pretty high quality, offering tracks that don’t feel like, you know, stock music. You can tell that actual thought went into the music selections on the site.

Another nice aspect of Alibi is its ability to streamline your workflow, importing the songs you like directly into your Premiere project. No more downloading, dragging, dropping, and so on.

Alibi has a range of prices, which get pretty high if you’re doing a commercial project, but for the most part, it’s reasonable.

Should I Use Stock Music?

The pros and cons of stock music

Using stock music is an affordable option for anyone with a budget too low for a dedicated composer.

Oh, the joys of royalty free music sites

On these platforms you pay per song, or via a subscription, which requires much less paperwork than you would need with a traditional license.

And there’s a wealth of music choices available across several hosting sites. Sure, you may not find John Williams quality. But if your content demands are flexible, there are many high-quality options out there to choose from.

However, if your demands are super-specific, this can be a daunting task. You might need to spend more time searching through hundreds of songs.

And, depending on how thoroughly each site vets incoming music, the standards for each recording may not be high enough for your production.

  1. Musician/composer here. Allthought I’m not a film maker I can absolutely agree with your arguments. Pond5 is really one of the greatest places, also as the pricing is mostly very fair and you’ll get a full-valued unlimited license for anything you buy over there.

  2. For all of you stock music composers out there. I have over 170 tracks on websites like Premiumbeat, Shutterstock music and Shockwave-Sound. I recently released acoustic drum loops which i’m giving away for free. Many of which i use on my own tracks. 🙂

  3. Hello,

If I may, at AmazingMusicTracks.com we have an extensive library with music in different genres and moods. We also just launched a section with free music.

    Hope this helps!

  4. I’ve had great success with Soundstripe! If you haven’t looked at their website, in my opinion they’re the best in the industry. I use them all the time for my films – VERY affordable for the high level of quality tracks they provide.

  5. Jamendo more focuses on listening yet it’s still one of my favorite music websites. I also save good good music videos from those big names like YouTube with wonderfox hd video converter factory.

  6. Hey there, thank you for breaking down all of these stock music sites in an accurate and easy to understand way. I recommend that you consider adding songtub.com to your list. Unlike other sites, I like that they offer music in curated packs and make things really easy to navigate. Thanks again!

  7. It’s all about the music license and right now https://stockmusic.net/ has killed it in that department. For 40 bucks, download the track and license to use on whatever projects (plural!!!) you want for as long you want. For all the other creatives out there, you know it’s a huge red tape that comes up way too often on other licensing sites.

  8. Thanks for this post. Actually, there’s plenty of free stock music websites. But there is a thing to keep in mind since the video games industry is now over the filmmaking industry. Royalty-free music has now to support the independent developers of the game industry and offer the appropriate audio format (not MP3 only). You can check https://patrickdearteaga.com to find copyright free music and to know more about the upcoming “gamedev” world.

  9. Hey,

I would like to add https://www.foximusic.com.
We offer premium production music with brilliant features you might find valuable, like custom build music packs discount, use the music in unlimited projects for a lifetime, no subscription required, no strings attached 🙂

    Thanks!

  10. I would like to add Wavecont to this list. Moreover, completely free and very good quality. Thanks a lot! Very instructive article.

  11. I love this site. It’s now called Bopper ( http://www.boppermusic.com). To my knowledge, it’s the only one offering real music from recording artists that you can license right on the spot. It also offers fair compensation to the artists.

  12. I don't know, I'm just wondering if all this is really legal. I mean, this music is royalty free, yet these sites are making money out of it. While what they do is provide a service, a repository, they actually put the royalty free tunes behind a paywall. If that's not using the royalty free music for commercial purposes, then I don't know what is.

  13. AJ Unitas-Thank you for bringing out the Best Stock Music Websites of 2021 for Video Creators.

Although I am a new video creator, I agree with you no doubt this is the best list of stock music.

  14. Hi everyone! Have you guys ever heard of a music library named Sounzone? I've just visited their website and I wanted to be sure before completing my subscription. Any feedbacks?
    Thx for your help!
